Note for Customers: Network Upgrade
Apr 24 2013 - 08:46:00 am
We're thrilled to announce that we'll be upgrading our network this weekend! The upgrade is the network backbone for speed and reliability. We are moving to a gigabit network in a load balanced environment for our web servers.

What does this mean for you, our customer? Even greater reliability and less downtime. We partner with Rackspace to bring you the world's best web hosting, and we boast 99.9% uptime. But darn it, that .01 percent really bothers us! Our goal is your complete and total satisfaction, and our technical team works all hours of the day and night to bring you the very best web services in the industry.

During the time of the upgrade, your website will remain available to your visitors without disruption. However, you will not be able to log in and make changes until the maintenance has been completed. The maintenance window starts at 10pm Friday, April 26th and ends 10pm Sunday, April 28th (this is the maximum window and will most likely be completed within 24 hours or less).

We are thrilled about this upgrade! We do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please know we will work to complete the maintenance as soon as possible, and that the end result will be worth the wait!

As always, we sincerely appreciate your business, and we're grateful for you, our customer.
Finding Hope in the Rubble
Apr 19 2013 - 09:18:00 am
“Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it.” -- Bill Cosby

It's hard to be optimistic when considering the events of late. A senseless act of terrorism at the Boston Marathon, a deadly plant explosion in West, Texas, and for Houstonians, the sudden and heartbreaking death of high school senior Bailey Cooper of Richmond, Texas. It is easy to become discouraged and distraught when many tragedies occur, especially so closely together. It is easy to lose hope and to despair, but for the sake of our families and our children, we must never fail to look at the bright side.

Wherever there is light, there cannot be darkness. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by these tragedies -- we are wishing you a weekend of hope, encouragement, and genuine joy.
Teachers: We aren't replacing you!
Apr 10 2013 - 11:10:00 am
One of the most predominant reasons teachers reject or are reluctant to adopt technology is for fear of becoming an obsolete commodity. When technology can educate, what's the need for teachers, right? Wrong. This link goes into detail about how a more expansive adoption of technology creates a deeper need for teachers themselves. Teachers' fear of blended learning is understandable, but thankfully, largely unfounded.

What is unfamiliar can be frightening, especially when things are moving quickly. Technology is daunting to many people in many industries, as innovation has swept up jobs in nearly every sector. However, in the case of education, we will always need teachers and their wisdom; embrace the benefits of technology in the classroom for the sake of the students, and worry not!
Children are Our Future
Apr 03 2013 - 01:12:00 pm
In America, at least, it seems that from pre-k on, the goal is to get to university. Any other path is often considered by educators, parents, and society at large to be inferior, a deviation, or even failure. College is one route, but it's not necessarily the route for everyone. However, given societal standards and the indisputable benefits of attending, junior high and high schools focus intently on preparing students for the rigors of university-level academics. This handy infographic talks about how we can prepare students for university from a technological standpoint.

For some, jumping into a career instead of a path to a degree is not necessarily a bad thing. It is important to encourage and empower students rather than direct them in the way we feel they should go. On the flip side, this infographic might help you wrap your mind around why university would be a second (or third!) choice.

Children are our future. Let's build them up!
